Developmental Psychopathology and Psychotherapy

Developmental psychopathology is the study of the psychological disorders such as psychopathy, autism, schizophrenia and depression, with a life course perspective. Its primary goal is to chart the diverse pathways individuals take in the development of psychological difficulties like aggression, substance use and optimal psychological health like self-esteem, scholastic success and moral development.

Psychotherapy helps to improve emotions and behaviors that should be linked with positive changes in the brain and body. It is used in combination with medication to treat mental health conditions. Psychiatrists and other mental health professionals use several types of therapy like Cognitive behavioral therapy, Interpersonal therapy, Psychodynamic therapy, Psychoanalysis etc.
