Market Research on Child Care and Child Psychology

Over the last three decades, the need for Child Care has grown steadily, with the rise in employment rates among women. Beyond need, the demand for quality child care has also increased, due to the potential benefits on peer socialization, school readiness, and numeracy and language skills (OECD 2006, Nores and Barnett 2010). In 2011, almost half (46%) of parents reported using some type of child care for their children aged 14 years and younger in the past year. This reliance on child care varied widely based on the age of the child. More than half (54%) of parents with children aged 4 and under used child care, mirroring previous findings from the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (Bushnik 2006).  In comparison, 39% of parents with school-aged children (5 to 14 years) used some form of non-parental care.

Overall, Child Care rates were significantly above the national average in Quebec, where 58% of parents placed their children in care. Those least likely to use child care were parents living in Manitoba (34%), Alberta (40%) and Ontario (43%). All of these rates were below the national average (46%).

The cost of care also varied widely across Canada. Reflecting Quebec's subsidized daily rate of $7 per day, Quebec recorded the lowest monthly cost of full-time care for children under the age of 5, with a median monthly cost of $152 per child. The cost in the second lowest region, the Atlantic   Provinces, was $541, almost four times the Quebec cost. The highest cost for full-time child care was found in Ontario, with a median monthly cost of $677.

Three forms of care daycare centers, home daycare and private arrangements were most often used for children under the age of 5. Before and after school care was the leading choice for children aged 5 and older.

As per WHO overall 10-20% of Children and Adolescents encounter Mental Disorders. Children with mental disorders confront real difficulties like stigma, isolation and discrimination, as well as lack of access to health care and education facilities. It came to see that the best concern for young people was family relationships, incorporating struggle in the family and parents’ divorce or separation. More than a year, there were more than 38,000 guiding sessions for this concern. During the early 20th century, the development of intelligence tests and the establishment of child guidance clinics further defined the field of Child Psychology. In low- and middle-income countries, between 76% and 85% of people with mental disorders receive no treatment for their disorder. In high-income countries, between 35% and 50% of people with mental disorders are in the same situation.
